AFMalik Law Principal Attorney Ammara Farooq Malik was invited as a UNESCO Panel Speaker on policy integration with science and business and to attend the UNESCO regional conference on ‘Cryosphere and related hazards in High Mountain Asia in a changing climate’ with more than 250 participants from more than 14 countries. The event was held at Almaty (Kazakhstan) from 1st to 4th November 2022.
AFMalik Law was recognized for its expertise and Ms. Ammara Malik was invited to lend her voice to the important regional dialogue on ‘Engaging Global Policymaking Processes to Benefit Mountain Communities’ and experiences and reflections from Asia Pacific were shared at the panel discussion.
Ms. Ammara added that there was a need for a holistic approach towards international development, particularly Climate Change and her remarks were echoed by other speakers the following day at the conference.
It was expected that the conference discussions would be taken forward to COP 27 at Sharm-el- Sheikh by several colleagues and it was hoped that these deliberations will pave the way towards global commitments that can be honoured for the survival of the planet and future generations.
